Wyobraska cattle sales report
The combined sales volume of Wyoming, western Nebraska and western North and South Dakota auctions for the week ending Feb. 21 totaled 6,595 head, compared to 3,200 head last week and 9,000 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Torrington, Wyo.
Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers weighing under 600 pounds sold $2 to $4 higher, over 600 pounds were steady to $2 higher. Demand was good. Direct trade steers were steady to $3 higher and heifers sold $1 higher on comparable sales. Trade was slow with demand moderate. Buyer and seller inquiry was light to moderate. Unless otherwise stated prices are current FOB with a 2 to 3% shrink or equivalent and with a 5 to 10 cent slide on calves and 3 to 6 cents slide on yearlings from base weight. Steers made up 52% of the supply, heifers 48%, with 61% weighing over 600 pounds. Direct sales accounted for 2280 head of the total receipts.

Direct Medium and large frame 1, 400 lbs., 132.00; 700 lbs., 96.50; 775 lbs., 90.00; 800 to 850 lbs., 83.00 to 88.00.
