Woodward cattle auction notes

The Woodward Livestock Auction, Woodward, Okla., reported receipts of 8,480 head Feb. 20, compared to 5,443 head last week, according to the USDA Market News Service, Oklahoma City, Okla.

Compared to last week, feeder steers were steady except those weighing 850 pounds were $1 higher. Feeder heifers were steady to $1 higher. Stocker and steer calves were $2 to $4 higher. Stocker and heifer calves were $2 to $3 higher. Demand was good for all classes. Fill was average. Quality was average to attractive. The supply was comprised of 57% steers, 43% heifers with 86% over 600 pounds. Slaughter cows were $1 higher. Slaughter bulls were steady. A total of 603 cows and bulls sold with 59% to packers.

Lean, 113 head, 85 to 90% lean, 975 to 1250 lbs., 46.75 to 49.00; high dressing, 50.00 to 54.00; low dressing, 43.10 to 46.50. Light, 21 head, 85 to 90% lean, 800 to 925 lbs., 42.25; low dressing, 35.00 to 38.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 and 2, 34 head, 1595 to 2325 lbs., 62.00 to 65.00; high dressing, 67.50 to 71.00; low dressing, 56.00 to 60.50.

Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1, 3 to 5 years old, 1050 to 1175 lbs., 7 to 8 months bred, high quality blacks, 1000.00 to 1100.00; 3 to 5 years old, 1075 to 1275 lbs., 5 to 7 months bred, average quality, 750.00 to 775.00; 6 to 7 year old, 970 lbs., 5 to 7 months bred, low quality, 625.00; 7 to 10 years old, 962 to 1006 lbs., 7 to 8 months bred, average quality, 640.00 to 685.00.
