West Plains livestock sales
The Ozarks Regional Stockyard, West Plains, Mo., reported receipts of 3,400 head March 9, compared to 3,502 head last week and 6,130 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Jefferson City, Mo.
Compared to last week, steers and heifers under 700 pounds sold $2 to $4 higher, with majority heifers 450 to 600 pounds, $4 to $5 higher. Steers over 700 pounds were $1 to $2 higher, heifers at best were steady. The supply was moderate, several stockers calves either weaned or at least in a flesh condition. Demand was very good. The supply was consistent with last week which included 56% steers and 44% heifers, with nearly 30% weighing over 600 pounds.
