Wood County Extension agent namedTexas Dan Reed has been named Texas Cooperative Extension 4-H and youth development agent for Wood County, effective July 1. "In Wood County, Reed will serve as the county Extension agent for 4-H and youth development and will work closely with county Extension agents Angie Monk and Jerry Jackson, not only in 4-H and youth activities, but in all programs sponsored by Extension," said Tony Douglas, regional district Extension administrator. Reed, a native of East Texas, graduated from Carthage High School in 1998. He earned a bachelor's degree in animal science in 2003 from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. While in high school, he was a member of FFA for four years, serving as both president and vice president of the local chapter. He was named Who's Who Among American High School Students. Reed was a member of the Panola County 4-H program for seven years. He was raised on a family farm in Clayton and served as a summer intern with Extension in Panola County in 2003. He also has worked for Kyle Animal Clinic and for Union Pacific Resources, both in Carthage. "I am really excited about working for Texas Cooperative Extension in Wood County. I am also looking forward to working with the youth and parents involved in the Wood County 4-H and youth development program," Reed said. Date: 6/24/04
