West Plains cattle sale notes
The Ozarks Regional Stockyard, West Plains, Mo., reported receipts of 4,565 head June 22, compared to 4,820 head last week and 4,596 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Jefferson City, Mo.
Compared to last week, steers and heifers were steady to $2 higher, although there were several 500- to 600-pound calves and 600- to 700-pound yearlings that sold $2 to $3 higher. The supply was moderate, quality and uniformity fairly attractive at times. Demand was very good. The supply consisted of 57% steers and 43% heifers. Nearly 50% weighed over 600 pounds.
