Stotts earns historic herd awardTexas Richard Stotts, Clarendon, Texas, has earned the American Angus Association's Historic Angus Herd Award, which recognizes members who have been in the continuous production of registered Angus cattle by the same individual or family for 50 years or more. The herd was established in April 1954 when Stotts purchased his first heifer from Valleymere Angus, Wichita Falls, Texas, at the Texas Angus Association Sale. Stotts also purchased Angus cattle from C.W. Chandler, Nocona, Texas, and Caprock Angus Farms, Memphis, Texas, where he was herdsman. The herd is still run by Stotts and currently has 40 head. A certificate commemorating this honor has been presented to Richard Stotts on behalf of the American Angus Association. Date: 6/24/04
