OKC West auction report

The OKC West Livestock Market Inc., El Reno, Okla., reported receipts of 1,993 head June 23, compared to 4,835 head last week and 5,300 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Oklahoma City, Okla.

Compared to last week at OKC West, feeder cattle and calves were $3 to $5 higher. Demand was extremely good for all classes despite lack of load lot availability. Rains of 4 to 7 inches in the trade area had several loads cancel. Next week, several loads of reputation and ranch raised calves are expected with 1,300 head already consigned. Quality was mostly plain, with few loads attractive. Feeder cattle were in medium, and few in moderate flesh conditions. Weigh-ups were average, few full. Calves were in thin to moderate flesh conditions, with few fleshy. Slaughter cows were $1 to $1.50 higher. Slaughter bulls were firm. Packer demand good for light receipts. A total of 185 cows and bulls sold with 59% going to packers. The supply consisted of 63% over 600 pounds, 28% under 600 pounds, 9% cows and bulls. Heifers comprised 29% of feeder and calf supply.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, calves, 225 to 300 lbs., 158.00 to 168.00; 325 to 400 lbs., 143.00 to 151.00; 400 to 430 lb. bulls 134.00 to 140.00; 495 lb. bulls 125.00; 560 lbs., 125.00; 600 to 630 lbs., 113.00 to 117.00. Yearlings, 500 to 550 lbs., 127.00 to 137.00; 575 to 600 lbs., 124.50 to 126.00; few 600 to 675 lbs., 125.00 to 126.00; 735 to 750 lbs., 119.00 to 123.00; 775 to 800 lbs., 114.00 to 115.50; few 800 to 875 lbs., 113.50 to 114.50; lot 960 lbs., 103.50. Medium and large frame 1 and 2, 400 to 435 lbs., 131.00 to 133.00; 595 lb. calves, 115.00; 600 to 675 lbs., 121.00 to 123.00; 725 to 800 lbs., 110.50 to 118.00; 815 lbs., 114.50. Medium and large frame 2, 375 lbs., 141.00; 425 to 475 lbs., 123.00 to 134.00; 550 lb. calves 110.00; 575 lbs., 120.00; 600 to 635 lbs., 113.00 to 115.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 108.00 to 118.00; 800 to 900 lbs., 105.00 to 110.00. Medium and large frame 3, 665 lbs., 110.00; 800 to 815 lbs., 104.50 to 105.00. Holsteins, Large frame, lot 795 lbs., 80.00.

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, calves, 260 lbs., 147.00; 350 to 400 lbs., 120.00 to 125.00; few 450 to 500 lbs., 117.00 to 123.00; 525 to 600 lbs., 110.00 to 118.50; package, 645 lbs., 107.00. Yearlings, few 625 to 700 lbs., 114.00 to 115.00; few 725 to 785 lbs., 105.00 to 113.50; few 800 to 875 lbs., 100.00 to 105.00. Medium and large frame 1 and 2, few 400 to 450 lbs., 117.50 to 120.00; 595 lbs., 112.00; 650 to 700 lbs., 110.00 to 112.50; 845 lbs., 102.50. Medium and large frame 2, 495 lbs., 119.00; 700 to 750 lbs., 104.00 to 105.00; 830 lbs., 102.50. Medium and large frame 3, 750 to 800 lbs., 97.50 to 99.00; 815 lbs., 90.00.

Slaughter cows: Breakers, 54 head, 70 to 80% lean, 1075 to 1700 lbs., 53.00 to 56.00; high dressing, 57.00 to 60.00; low dressing, 51.50 to 53.50. Boners, 16 head, 80 to 85% lean, 1050 to 1450 lbs., 53.50 to 56.00; high dressing, 57.00 to 64.00; low dressing, 51.00 to 53.00. Lean, 26 head, 85 to 90% lean, 950 to 1475 lbs., 51.50 to 53.75; high dressing, 59.00; low dressing, 45.00 to 51.50.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 and 2, 8 head, 1150 to 2050 lbs., 68.50 to 71.00; high dressing, 69.00 to 72.50; low dressing, 65.00.

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1 and 2, 5 years old, 1300 lbs., with 125-lb. calves, average quality black, 1120.00; 10 years old, 900 to 975 lbs., with 125- to 200-lb. calves, thin blacks, 720.00 to 810.00.
