NDA ag promotion traveling office makes stop in Columbus

Untitled

Nebraska

Nebraska Department of Agriculture (NDA) Director Merlyn Carlson is pleased to announce that the Ag Promotion and Development (AP & D) Division will continue its "Traveling Office" with a second stop in July.

"The goal of the 'Traveling Office' is to make Nebraska Department of Agriculture staff more available to citizens across the state," said Director Carlson. "The 'Traveling Office's' first stop in Scottsbluff received a positive response. The 'Traveling Office' allows Ag Promotion and Development staff to participate in local activities and meet with civic organizations, agribusinesses and individuals."

The AP & D Division of NDA works closely with farm and commodity organizations, public and private research institutions, and other state agencies to open new markets for Nebraska farm commodities and value-added agricultural products. This cooperative effort multiplies the marketing impact for Nebraska by increasing consumer awareness of new food and non-food uses for Nebraska commodities. This effort takes both a domestic and international focus.

The second stop on the AP & D "Traveling Office" tour is Columbus, Nebraska. AP & D Division Administrator Stan Garbacz will staff the office, located at the New World Inn and Conference Center from July 6 through 7. The "Traveling Office" will move to the Platte County Fair on July 8, and will be located under the Grandstand. Garbacz's phone number for the week will be 402-430-1820. Individuals wishing to schedule an appointment with Garbacz during the week are encouraged to call 800-422-6692 prior to July 2. Walk-in appointments are also welcomed.

Farm and Ranch Market Network will sponsor the three-day event.

The AP & D "Traveling Office" will feature informational brochures, Nebraska directories and a display showcasing Nebraska food products. The "Traveling Office" welcomes all area civic organizations, agribusinesses and individuals.

If your community is interested in hosting a future AP & D "Traveling Office", please contact Garbacz at 800-422-6692.
