Youth speak out on swine issues at junior spectacularParticipants voiced their opinions about the swine industry July 9, during the National Junior Summer Spectacular Speech Contests and Extemporaneous Speaking Contest held at the Kentucky Expo Center in Louisville. Donielle Inskeep, Mt. Airy, Md., was named the champion extemporaneous speaker. Inskeep was also named the champion speaker in the senior speech contest with her speech titled, "Animal IdentificationÉ A Safety Precaution or a Necessity?" In the intermediate division, Nick Hofschulte, Wyandotte, Okla., finished first with his speech called, "The Ideal Market HogÉ Does Lean Pay?" The junior speech winner was Konni Kelso, Seguin, Texas. Her speech was titled, "Vesicular Stomatitis." The top contestants in each division follow: Extemporaneous Speaking Contest (13 to 21 years of age): first, Donielle Inskeep, Mt. Airy, Md.; second, Jared Stowers, Kirklin, Ind.; third, John Menefee, Paola, Kan.; fourth, Kalie Cook, Westminster, Texas and fifth, Zach Brockhaus, Tuttle, Okla. Senior Speech Contest (17 to 21 years of age): first, Donielle Inskeep, Mt. Airy, Md.; second, Lindsey Jessup, Almena, Kan.; third, Christina Gallant, Smyrna, Del. and fourth, Mallory Dill, Wyoming, Del. Intermediate Speech Contest (13 to 16 years of age): first, Nick Hofschulte, Wyandotte, Okla.; second, Elizabeth Mulkey, Bainbridge, Ga.; third, Emily Arkfeld, Dunbar, Neb.; fourth, John Menefee, Paola, Kan. and fifth, A.J. Anderson, Quaker City, Ohio. Junior Speech Contest (9 to 12 years of age): first, Konni Kelso, Seguin, Texas; second, Cheyenne Wiley, Fort Scott, Kan.; third, Olivia Kitts, Elwood, Ind.; fourth, Rachael Arkfeld, Dunbar, Neb. and fifth, Sandra Timmons, McAlester, Okla.
