USDA allows emergency grazingRAPID CITY, S.D. (AP)--Ranchers in parts of western South Dakota will be allowed to graze their cattle on land in the Conservation Reserve Program. Because of the drought, the U.S. Agriculture Department has opened up CRP land in Bennett, Shannon, Jackson, Fall River and southeast Pennington counties. The ag department is also considering whether to allow ranchers to take hay from CRP land. Date: 7/20/04
