Tulsa cattle sales report

The Tulsa Stockyards, Tulsa, Okla., reported receipts of 2,059 head July 19, compared to 2,373 head last week, according to the USDA Market News Service, Oklahoma City, Okla.

Compared to last week, lightweight steers were $8 to $10 lower, with feeder steers $3 to $5 lower. Lightweight heifers were $3 to $5 lower, with feeder heifers $2 to $4 lower. Quality was fair to attractive, with a good attendance of buyers and good demand. Weigh-ups were average with more fleshy calves coming to market along with more bull calves. Receipts were comprised of 44% steers, 40% heifers, 15% bulls, with 25% of feeder cattle over 600 pounds. Slaughter cows and bulls were fully steady. Bred cows continue to go back to the farm. A total of 284 cows and bulls sold with 53% going to packers.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 6 head, 260 to 293 lbs., 140.00 to 162.00 (149.75); 13 head, 300 to 345 lbs., 141.00 to 159.00 (147.34); 350 to 398 lbs., 131.00 to 148.00 (139.13); 16 head, 405 to 440 lbs., 125.00 to 138.00 (130.79); 454 to 495 lbs., 118.00 to 128.00 (124.34); 505 to 545 lbs., 119.00 to 127.50 (123.76); 550 to 597 lbs., 112.00 to 123.00 (116.09); 605 to 648 lbs., 110.50 to 118.50 (117.11); 18 head, 650 to 695 lbs., 110.00 to 114.00 (113.36). Medium and large frame 2, 5 head, 353 lbs., 126.00 to 127.00 (126.40); 5 head, 594 to 595 lbs., 110.00 to 111.00 (110.20); 6 head, 653 to 670 lbs., 108.00 to 112.00 (109.69).

Feeder bulls: Medium and large frame 1, 6 head, 243 lbs., 144.00; 15 head, 367 to 390 lbs., 129.00 to 142.00 (134.52); 8 head, 413 to 449 lbs., 120.00 to 128.00 (124.24); 7 head, 465 to 480 lbs., 121.00 to 128.00 (124.90); 18 head, 555 to 598 lbs., 110.00 to 122.00 (115.84); 10 head, 602 to 625 lbs., 101.00 to 111.00 (107.17); 17 head, 650 to 690 lbs., 96.00 to 106.00 (103.51). Medium and large frame 2, 6 head, 603 to 630 lbs., 108.00 to 110.00 (109.15).

Slaughter cows: Breakers, 28 head, 75 to 80% lean, 1100 to 1600 lbs., 53.00 to 56.50; high dressing, 57.00 to 64.00; low dressing, 49.00 to 52.50. Boners, 43 head, 80 to 85% lean, 1000 to 1450 lbs., 54.50 to 58.00; high dressing, 59.00 to 64.00; low dressing, 50.50 to 54.00. Lean, 30 head, 85 to 90% lean, 950 to 1475 lbs., 53.50 to 57.00; high dressing, 57.50 to 63.50; low dressing, 47.50 to 52.00. Light, 23 head, 85 to 90% lean, 725 to 1000 lbs., 47.00 to 50.00; high dressing, 51.00 to 58.00; low dressing, 43.00 to 46.50.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 and 2, 23 head, 1300 to 2500 lbs., 66.00 to 69.50; high dressing, 70.00 to 78.00; low dressing, 61.50 to 65.00.

Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1, 8 to 10 years old, 1050 to 1200 lbs., 4 to 6 months bred, average quality, 735.00 to 850.00.

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1, 5 years old, 1100 to 1200 lbs., with 100- to 150-lb. calves, average quality, 960.00 to 1000.00.
