Tulia livestock sales report

The Tulia Livestock Auction, Inc., Tulia, Texas, reported receipts of 1,567 head July 19, compared to 3,656 head last week and 2,797 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to last week, 400- to 800-pound feeder steers were $3 to $7 lower, while those over 800 pounds were steady. Feeder heifers were steady to $4 lower. Slaughter cows were steady to $3 lower. Slaughter bulls were steady to $1 lower on light test. Trade was active. Demand was moderate. The bulk of the supply were Medium and large frame 1 and 2, 400- to 900-pound feeder steers and heifers. Feeder cattle accounted for 95% and slaughter cows and bulls 5% of the run. In the feeder supply, steers made up approximately 57% of the run, heifers 43%, steers and heifers over 600 pounds totaled 70%.

Slaughter bulls: high dressing, 1750 to 1850 lbs., 75.00 to 77.00, few.

Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1 and 2, young to middle aged, 800 to 1250 lbs., 4 to 8 months bred, 590.00 to 760.00 per head.
