Nebraska Angus tour set for September

Mark your calendars for the 2004 Nebraska Angus Tour, Sept. 10 and 11, beginning in Norfolk. Two days of ranch tours, speakers and diverse exhibits are planned.

"This year's tour offers a diversity of genetics, management techniques and landscape," said Jennifer Svoboda, Nebraska Angus Association secretary/manager. "Anyone who is interested in top Angus genetics and good company is encouraged to attend."

The tour will begin Friday at 11:30 a.m., with buses departing from the Holiday Inn Express, Norfolk. The first stop will be at Northeast Community College, Norfolk, with displays by J Bar Angus, Columbus; Ohlrichs Angus, Norfolk; and Walters Angus Farms, Meadow Grove.

A tour of Affiliated Foods, Norfolk, and Weborg Feedlot, Pender, is on the agenda for the afternoon. Dinner will be at the Cuming County Fairgrounds with displays by 5H Angus, Oakland; Blacktop Angus, Beemer; Bluegrass Angus, Lyons; Meyer Angus, Fremont; Millerdale Farms Inc., Lyons; Opperman Cattle Company, West Point; Triple K Angus, Wisner; and Willow Glen Farm, Lyons.

Saturday will start at 8 a.m., with buses departing the hotel for breakfast at Pohlman Angus, Norfolk. A pasture stop at Todd Landmark Angus, Creighton, will feature displays by Mark Brookhouser, Brunswick, and Sukup Angus, Verdigre.

Following the pasture stop will be lunch at Bartos Angus, Verdigre. Nielsen Angus, Lynch, will also have cattle on display. Then it's off to Fullerton, to Frenzen Angus, which includes a display from M G S Angus, Genoa.

The last stop will be at DBL Inc., Fullerton, with a display by Sonderup Angus, Genoa. Buses are scheduled to arrive back in Norfolk at 5:30 p.m.

Registration for the tour is $35 and due to Svoboda by September 1. The Holiday Inn Express, Norfolk, is the headquarters motel. Reservations can be made by calling 402-379-1524, before September 1, and be sure to ask for the Nebraska Angus Association's tour rate.
