Young Farmers and Ranchers to hold winter conference in ChickashaOklahoma Young farmers and ranchers from across the state will gather in Chickasha Jan. 30 to Feb. 1 for the annual Oklahoma Farm Bureau Young Farmers and Ranchers Winter Conference. OFB's YF&R Committee welcome young producers, ages 18 to 35, to participate in a weekend full of informative sessions that will focus on improving their operations. The conference kicks off Friday, Jan. 30 at 3 p.m. when young farmers and ranchers will tour the Golden Peanut Co. in Anadarko. On Saturday, Jan. 31, the group will attend several workshops designed to provide valuable information on production agriculture as well as leadership opportunities in the industry as well as Farm Bureau. Following lunch at the hotel, YF&R will depart for Anadarko to tour the Western Farmers Power Plant. Dinner and entertainment in Chickasha will wrap up the evening's activities. On Sunday, Feb. 1, young producers may attend a Vespers Service before the conference wraps up with a legislative update from Oklahoma Farm Bureau's Public Policy Division. Young farmers and ranchers won't want to miss this session, as the state YF&R Committee and OFB's Field Services and Public Policy Divisions will hold a random drawing to give away an expense-paid trip to Washington, D.C., for OFB's Congressional Action Tour March 28 to April 1. The annual trip gives farmers and ranchers the opportunity to meet with their elected officials in the nation's capitol to discuss the issues important to their livelihoods. The lucky winner must be present to win. The 2004 YF&R Winter Conference will be held at the Best Western in Chickasha. Child care will be available on Friday, Jan. 30 from 2 to 9 p.m.; Saturday, Jan. 31 from 8 a.m. to noon, 1 to 5 p.m., and 7 to 9 p.m.; and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. For more information on the YF&R Winter Conference, please contact Marcia Irvin at 405-523-2405. Date: 1/22/04
