Wyobraska livestock sales
The weekly sales summary for Wyoming, western Nebraska, and western North and South Dakota for the week ending Jan. 17, showed receipts of 3,800 head, compared to 1,225 head last week and 10,200 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Torrington, Wyo.
There were not enough comparable sales from limited receipts last week for a good price comparison, however a sharply higher undertone was noted. Direct trade steers were $2 to $3 higher, heifers were not comparable with last week. Trade was slow to moderate with demand light to moderate. Buyer and seller inquiry improved over the past couple of weeks. Unless otherwise stated prices are current FOB with a 2 to 3% shrink or equivalent and with a 5 to 10 cent slide on calves and 3 to 6 cents slide on yearlings from base weight. Steers made up 75% of the supply, heifers 25%, with 75% weighing over 600 pounds. Direct sales accounted for 2200 head of the total receipts.

Medium and large frame 1 and 2, 350 lbs., 126.00; 425 lbs., 117.00; 745 lbs., 83.25. Medium frame 1, fleshy 775 lbs., 83.00. Direct, Medium and large frame 1, 750 to 790 lbs., 89.00 to 90.00; 800 to 810 lbs., 87.00 to 88.00; 860 to 930 lbs., 85.00 to 86.00.
Heifers: Auctions, Medium and large frame 1, 325 lbs., 125.00; 420 to 460 lbs., 107.00 to 121.00, mostly 110.00 to 121.00; 500 to 580 lbs., 95.00 to 109.00, mostly 97.50 to 109.00; 615 to 675 lbs., 87.25 to 89.00; 765 to 800 lbs., 85.26 to 87.00; 900 lbs., 74.25. Medium and large frame 1 and 2, 310 to 370 lbs., 113.00 to 116.00; 445 to 450 lbs., 103.50 to 109.00; 540 lbs., 96.50. Medium frame 1, 545 lbs., 96.00.
