Wyobraska cattle salesThe combined sales volume at Wyoming, western Nebraska and western North and South Dakota auctions for the week ending Jan. 10 totaled 1,225 head, no sale last week and 18,000 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Torrington, Wyo. At Wyoming auctions this week, lightly tested feeder cattle trade. First test since before the holidays and no recent price comparison available. Direct trade very slow with demand light to moderate. Buyer and seller inquiry improved over the past couple of weeks. No recent price comparison on direct sales. Unless otherwise stated prices are current FOB with a 2 to 3% shrink or equivalent and with a 5 to 10 cent slide on calves and 3 to 6 cents slide on yearlings from base weight. Steers made up 89% of the supply, heifers 11%, with 100% weighing over 600 pounds. Direct sales accounted for 660 head of the total receipts. Steers: Auctions, Medium and large frame 1, 350 to 395 lbs., 120.00 to 123.00; 450 to 500 lbs., 111.50 to 115.00; 520 to 525 lbs., 106.00 to 108.00; 615 to 630 lbs., 91.50 to 94.50; 700 lbs., 86.00. Direct Medium and large frame 1, fancy, 775 lbs., 100.00; 800 to 835 lbs., 85.00 to 86.00. Heifers: Auctions, Medium and large frame 1, 365 lbs., 117.00; 450 to 480 lbs., 106.00 to 108.00; 500 to 535 lbs., 97.00 to 101.50; 560 to 580 lbs., 89.50 to 93.75.
