Woodward cattle auction newsThe Woodward Livestock Auction, Woodward, Okla., reported 1,818 head Jan. 9, compared to 3,825 head three weeks ago, according to the USDA Market News Service, Oklahoma City, Okla. Compared to the most recent sale, feeder steers were $6 to $8 lower. Feeder heifers were $8 to $10 lower. Steer and heifer calves were $3 to $8 lower, and not all weights were tested. Demand was good for all classes. Fill was average. Quality was average to attractive, with end plain. The supply was comprised 62% steers, 36% heifers with 78% over 600 pounds. Slaughter cows were $2 to $4 lower. Slaughter bulls were steady. A total of 400 cows and bulls sold with 83% to packers.
