West Plains cattle sale notes
The Ozarks Regional Stockyard, West Plains, Mo., reported receipts of 4,250 head Jan. 20, compared to 3,868 head last week and 2,711 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Jefferson City, Mo.
Compared to last week, steers under 800 pounds and heifers under 650 pounds were steady to $2 higher following last week's sharp upturn. Steers over 800 pounds and heifers over 650 pounds sold $3 to $4 higher. Supply was moderate, and the quality was more attractive this week. Trading was active and demand very good. The feeder supply included 57% steers and 43% heifers, with nearly 35% weighing over 600 pounds.
