Weekly slaughter cattle summary
The five to area weekly weighted average direct slaughter cattle sales report for the week ending Dec. 28, showed 42,624 confirmed head, compared to 124,508 last week and 170,390 last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, St. Joseph, Mo. The report covered the states of Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado, Iowa, and Minnesota.
Live FOB basis: Steers, over 80% Choice, 35 head, 1,425 to 1,425 lbs., 80.00 to 80.00 (80.00); 65 to 80% Choice, 907 head, 1,165 to 1,450 lbs., 75.00 to 91.50 (82.52); 35 to 65% Choice, 9,079 head, 950 to 1,450 lbs., 75.00 to 91.00 (86.15); 0 to 35% Choice, 1,074 head, 1,125 to 1,250 lbs., 75.00 to 91.00 (88.04); total all grades, 11,095 head, 950 to 1,450 lbs., 75.00 to 91.50 (86.01).
