Denison livestock auction notes
The Denison Livestock Auction, Denison, Iowa, reported receipts of 3,015 head Jan. 13, compared to 1,817 head last week, according to the USDA Market News Service, Des Moines, Iowa.
This week's auction was a special preconditioned cattle sale. Demand was good. Calves under 650 pounds were $2 to $3 higher. Cattle over 650 pounds were steady with a firm undertone. Receipts included 57% feeder cattle over 600 pounds, 48% heifers and 52% steers.
Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 6 head, 330 to 345 lbs., 128.00 to 132.00 (129.96); 11 head, 353 to 383 lbs., 125.00 to 131.00 (128.85); 404 to 425 lbs., 125.00 to 131.00 (129.17); 450 to 498 lbs., 116.00 to 125.00 (119.19); 501 to 549 lbs., 112.00 to 119.75 (114.86); 553 to 598 lbs., 105.75 to 111.00 (107.99); 603 to 649 lbs., 100.50 to 105.50 (103.47); 650 to 696 lbs., 93.50 to 100.00 (96.27); 701 to 748 lbs., 89.10 to 96.00 (92.18); 751 to 790 lbs., 87.00 to 94.50 (90.48); 801 to 844 lbs., 85.85 to 91.00 (89.03).
