Zodiac Angus named historic herdThe American Angus Association has recently presented its Historic Angus Herd Award to Zodiac Angus, Adrian, Mo., which is owned by Harley Ford. The herd was established with the purchase of two females sired by Eileenmere 487 from Roy Johnson, Silver Top Farms, Belton, Mo., as well as cattle from Penny and James and Homeplace Farms, both of Hamilton, Mo. The herd has been active down through the years, hosting a number of production sales and providing seedstock that were used to establish herds for other breeders. Ford continues to own and operate the herd today, which includes approximately 50 registered Angus cows. A certificate commemorating this achievement will be presented to him in recognition of this honor. The American Angus Association presents the Historic Angus Herd Award to Angus herds that have been in the continuous production of registered Angus cattle by the same family for 50 years or more. The American Angus Association is the world's largest beef breed organization, providing programs and services to thousands of commercial producers and more than 34,000 regular and junior members nationwide.
