Wyobraska cattle sales report
The Combined sales volume at Wyoming, western Nebraska and western North and South Dakota auctions for the week ending Feb. 7 totaled 7,400 head, compared to 9,100 head last week and 7,100 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Torrington, Wyo.
Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers sold $2 to $5 lower. Demand was moderate to good. Direct trade steers and heifers were $2 to $3 lower on comparable sales. Trade was slow with demand moderate to good. Buyer and seller inquiry moderate. Unless otherwise stated prices are current FOB with a 2 to 3% shrink or equivalent and with a 5 to 10 cent slide on calves and 3 to 6 cents slide on yearlings from base weight. Steers made up 69% of the supply, heifers 31%, with 58% weighing over 600 pounds. Direct sales accounted for 900 head of the total receipts.
