Western Kansas Rural Economic Development Alliance announces Dairy UniversityKansas Dairy farming has become Western Kansas' fastest growing industry and the fastest growing dairy area in the U.S.A. The second Dairy University, a two-day seminar providing information about dairy farming in Western Kansas is set for Jan. 12 to 13, 2005 in Garden City, Kan. The seminar will feature nationally-known experts in the dairy industry, including Kansas specialists, discussing local large dairy farm issues. The seminar cost is $100 ($109 after Jan. 7) and is open to the public. The sessions will be most valuable to farmers and ranchers, city and county commissioners, land owners, investors, agribusiness owners, extension agents, economic development and chamber members and other business professionals. All sessions will be held at the Plaza Inn in Garden City. Registration starts at 9 a.m. on Jan. 12 and the seminar will adjourn at noon on Jan. 13. Topics will include industry trends and changes, how rural communities can be involved, benefits to the Western Kansas economy, feed and nutrition, dairy design and other topics.
