Tulia livestock auction notes
The Tulia Livestock Auction, Tulia, Texas, reported receipts of 2,117 head Dec. 20, compared to 2,715 head last week and 1,955 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Tulia, Texas.
Compared to last week, feeder steers were mostly steady, except 700- to 800-pounds were $3 higher. Feeder heifers were steady to $1 lower. Slaughter cows were steady to $2 higher on light test. Slaughter bulls were not well tested. Trade was active. Demand was moderate. The bulk of the supply were Medium and large frame 1 and 2, 600- to 800-pound feeder steers and heifers. Feeder cattle accounted for 98% and slaughter cows and bulls 2% of the run. In the feeder supply, steers made up approximately 69% of the run, heifers 31%, steers and heifers over 600 pounds totaled 70%.
Steers: Medium and large frame 1, few 268 lbs., 144.00; 425 to 475 lbs., 127.00 to 131.00; 625 to 700 lbs., 106.00 to 110.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 103.50 to 110.00. Medium and large frame 1 and 2, few 273 lbs., 121.00; 450 to 500 lbs., 112.00 to 117.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 104.00 to 112.00; lot 671 lbs., 106.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 97.00 to 106.75, package 730 lbs., fleshy 93.75. Medium and large frame 2 and 3, 400 to 475 lbs., 105.00 to 108.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 93.00 to 102.50; 600 to 675 lbs., 90.00 to 93.00; package 728 lbs., 88.00.
Heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 300 to 400 lbs., 115.00 to 122.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 114.00 to 115.00; 525 to 575 lbs., 107.00 to 109.00; 600 to 675 lbs., 98.00 to 100.50, package 609 lbs., thin 109.00; lot 768 lbs., 107.00. Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, over 1200 lbs., 49.50 to 50.50, few. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 1200 to 1600 lbs., 50.50 to 51.50, few; 80 to 85% lean, 1000 to 1200 lbs., 49.00 to 51.50, few. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1200 lbs., 45.00 to 48.00, few; 85 to 90% lean, 800 to 1000 lbs., 42.50 to 46.50, few; 85 to 90% lean, under 800 lbs., 34.50 to 36.00, few.
Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 and 2, 1595 to 1725 lbs., 63.00 to 64.50, few; high dressing, 1800 to 1980 lbs., 66.50 to 67.50.
