Salina cattle sales report
The Farmers and Ranchers Livestock Commission Co., Salina, Kan., reported receipts of 3,793 head Dec. 16, compared to 3,882 head last week and 3,940 head last year, according to the Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Dodge City, Kan.
Compared to last week, 400- to 600-pound feeder steers were $3 to $5 higher, 600- to 950-pound steers were steady to $2 higher. Feeder heifers weighing 400 to 650 pounds were $1 to $3 higher, 650- to 800-pound heifers were steady, and 800- to 950-pound heifers were steady to $2 higher. Slaughter cows were not tested. Trade was active. Demand was good. Receipts included 81% 600 pounds and over, 19% 600 pounds and under, less than 1% slaughter cows. The feeder supply included 60% steers and 40% heifers.
