New schedule for 2005 NSR winter type conferenceMore than 100 exhibitors from 15 states will make their way to the Agri-Business Building in Arkansas City, Kan., on Jan. 5 to 7 for the 2005 National Swine Registry Winter Type Conference. There, more than 300 Duroc, Hampshire and Yorkshire boars and gilts will vie for championship honors among the nation's best. Entries will begin arriving on Wednesday, Jan. 5, and will be in place by Thursday, Jan. 6. Beginning at 9 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 7, Hampshire boars and gilts will make their way to the show ring to be evaluated by Judge Mike Watson of Indiana. Judge Dr. Harold Hodson of Iowa will evaluate Duroc entries next, followed by Yorkshires entering the ring for Judge Neil Planalp of Indiana. New to the 2005 event: the Winter Type Conference sale will begin at 5 p.m. on Friday, with Hampshires leading the sale, followed by Durocs and Yorkshires. In the past, the sale began on Saturday morning.
