Winter Livestock auction report
Receipts at Dodge City Winter Livestock Inc., Dodge City, Kan., Aug. 18, totaled 1,348 head, compared to 1,567 head last week and 1,977 head last year, according to the Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Dodge City, Kansas.
Compared with last week, feeder steers and heifers 300- to 950-pounds in an extremely light supply was firm to $3 higher. Slaughter cows were firm to .50 higher. Slaughter bulls were firm to $2 higher. Receipts 60% 600 pounds and over, 40% 600 pounds and under, 10% slaughter cows and bulls with 130 head early. Feeder supply was 48% steer and 52% heifers.

Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 2, bred second trimester, short to solid mouth, 34 head, 1251 to 1269 lbs., (1263) 940.00 to 985.00 (954.42); 13 head, 1390 lbs., 985.00. Mostly broken mouth, 39 head, 1220 to 1245 lbs., (1234) 830.00 to 845.00 (831.94).
Slaughter cows: Breakers and Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 62.00 to 62.50 (62.27). Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 55.00 to 59.50 (57.46); high dressing, 60.00 to 61.50 (60.63); low dressing, 52.50 to 54.50 (53.65).
Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 and 2, 72.00 to 77.00 (73.64); low dressing, 64.00 to 71.50 (67.67).
