Watertown cattle sales

The South Dakota Livestock Sales, Watertown, S.D., reported receipts of 850 head plus 500 slaughter Aug. 25, compared to 800 head last week and 1,000 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Sioux Falls, S.D.

Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers held steady. Due to a limited number of Holstein cattle trends are not available. Offerings over 600 pounds were 57%. Feeder steers made up 50% of the run, and heifers 50%.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 12 head, 282 lbs., 173.00; 11 head, 334 lbs., 165.00; 350 to 396 lbs., 159.00 to 168.00 (165.61); 9 head, 510 lbs., 143.00; 8 head, 553 to 566 lbs., 121.00 to 127.00 (124.72); 6 head, 620 lbs., 121.50; 11 head, 666 to 667 lbs., 116.00 to 120.50 (118.45); 16 head, 700 to 715 lbs., 123.00 to 123.25 (123.20); 805 to 807 lbs., 116.00 to 117.00 (116.61); 41 head, 856 lbs., 114.60; 907 to 915 lbs., 109.40 to 109.75 (109.47); 1012 lbs., 102.00. Medium and large frame 1 and 2, 20 head, 552 to 597 lbs., 117.00 to 119.50 (118.79); 20 head, 792 to 875 lbs., 113.50 to 114.75 (113.73); 9 head, 877 lbs., 109.25; 1031 to 1045 lbs., 92.40 to 95.75 (93.46); 9 head, 1082 lbs., 81.25; 8 head, 1165 lbs., 79.00 fleshy. Medium frame 1, 6 head, 890 lbs., 96.00.

Feeder Holstein steers: Large frame 3, 6 head, 607 lbs., 83.00.

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 311 to 317 lbs., 141.00 to 156.00 (152.30); 366 to 388 lbs., 146.00 to 147.00 (146.59); 12 head, 530 lbs., 123.25; 660 to 688 lbs., 118.00 to 119.00 (118.50); 38 head, 742 lbs., 117.75; 761 to 776 lbs., 113.50 to 116.50 (114.92); 815 to 836 lbs., 106.75 to 110.50 (107.75); 12 head, 872 lbs., 112.50; 15 head, 905 to 940 lbs., 106.00 to 110.75 (109.77).
