Tulia livestock auction notesThe Tulia Livestock Auction Inc., Tulia, Texas, reported receipts of 2,984 head Aug. 23, compared to 1,867 head last week and 3,473 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Amarillo, Texas. Compared to last week, feeder steers were steady to $2 higher. Feeder heifers were $2 to $5 higher, with instances of $7 higher. Slaughter cows were mostly steady on light test. Trade was active. Demand was moderate. The bulk of the supply were Medium and large frame 1 and 2, 500- to 900-pounds feeder steers and heifers. Feeder cattle accounted for 98% and slaughter cows and bulls 2% of the run. In the feeder supply, steers made up approximately 32% of the run, heifers 68% steers and heifers over 600 pounds totaled 84%.
