Salina cattle sales report
The Farmers and Ranchers Livestock Commission Co., Salina, Kan., Aug. 19, reported receipts of 2,092 head, compared to 3,005 head last week and 4,297 head last year, according to the Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Dodge City, Kan.
Compared to last week, 500- to 800-pound feeder steers were $3.50 to $4.50 higher, 800- to 900-pound steers were steady to $1 higher. Feeder heifers weighing 350 to 750 pounds were steady to $1 higher, while 750- to 850-pound heifers were $1 to $2 higher. Slaughter cows were not tested. Trade was active. Demand was good. Receipts include 88% percent 600 pounds and over, 11% 600 pounds and under, 1% slaughter cows and bulls. The feeder supply included 67% steers and 33% heifers.
