Pratt livestock sales report
Pratt Livestock Sales, Inc., Pratt, Kan., reported receipts of 4,158 head Aug. 19, compared to 2,379 head last week and 5,355 head last year, according to the Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Dodge City, Kan.
Compared with last week, 300- to 700-pound feeder steers, and 300- to 650-pound feeder heifers were not enough for market test but a higher undertone was noted. Feeder steers weighing 700 to 1000 pounds and 650- to 900-pound feeder heifers were steady to $1 higher. Slaughter cows were $1 higher. Slaughter bulls were $1 lower. Trade was active, demand was good. Receipts included 95% 600 pounds and over, 4% 600 pounds and under, 1% cows and bulls. The feeder supply was 68% steers and 32% heifers.
