Wyobraska sales report
The combined sales volume of Wyoming, western Nebraska and western North and South Dakota auctions for the week ending April 3, receipts of 6,000 head, compared to 3,425 head last week and 8,550 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Torrington, Wyo.
Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers sold steady $2 higher, with instances of $3 higher. Demand was good with best demand for grass type cattle and replacement heifers. Direct trade was slow with demand moderate. Buyer and seller inquiry light to moderate. Feeder steers and heifers were not comparable for a market test. Available supplies becoming very limited in the country. Unless otherwise stated prices are current FOB with a 2 to 3% shrink or equivalent and with a 5 to 10 cent slide on calves and 3 to 6 cents slide on yearlings from base weight. Steers made up 59% of the supply, heifers 41%, with 71% weighing over 600 pounds. Direct sales accounted for 2125 head of the total receipts.
