Wyobraska cattle sales report
The combined sales volume of Wyoming, western Nebraska and western North and South Dakota auctions for the week ending April 17, totaled 3,800 head, compared to 4,400 head last week and 5,625 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Torrington, Wyo.
Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers at the auctions sold steady to $2 higher. Direct trade was slow with demand moderate. Buyer and seller inquiry was light to moderate. Not enough comparable sales for a market test. Available supplies becoming very limited in the country. Unless otherwise stated prices are current FOB with a 2 to 3% shrink or equivalent and with a 5 to 10 cent slide on calves and 3 to 6 cents slide on yearlings from base weight. Steers made up 39% of the supply, heifers 61%, with 65% weighing over 600 pounds. Direct sales accounted for 675 head of the total receipts.
