Woodward cattle auction notes

The Woodward Livestock Auction, Woodward, Okla., reported receipts of 2,888 head April 9, compared to 4,103 head last week, according to the USDA Market News Service, Oklahoma City, Okla.

Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers were $1 to $2 higher. Steer calves were $1 lower. Stocker steers were steady. Heifer calves were $1 to $2 lower. Stocker heifers were $3 to $4 higher. Demand was good for all classes. Quality was average. Fill was average to full. The supply was comprised of 43% steers, 53% heifers with 63% weighing over 600 pounds. Slaughter cows were $2 to $3 higher. Slaughter bulls were $2 to $4 higher. A total of 471 cows and bulls sold with 33% going to packers.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 8 head, 321 to 333 lbs., 142.00 to 144.00 (142.77); 5 head, 385 lbs., 138.00; 8 head, 419 to 447 lbs., 125.00 to 129.00 (127.44); 457 to 494 lbs., 120.00 to 125.00 (121.73); 6 head, 533 lbs., 112.00 calves; 16 head, 573 to 594 lbs., 108.50 to 111.25 (109.55); 9 head, 589 lbs., 107.00 calves; 610 to 639 lbs., 103.25 to 107.75 (104.44); 653 to 695 lbs., 98.50 to 104.50 (99.78); 725 to 749 lbs., 95.60 to 98.00 (96.77); 763 to 789 lbs., 94.00 to 94.75 (94.46); 803 to 847 lbs., 90.00 to 93.25 (91.08); 853 to 869 lbs., 89.25 to 91.50 (90.69); 929 to 930 lbs., 84.50 to 88.00 (87.24); 14 head, 951 to 998 lbs., 83.00 to 84.50 (83.63). Lean, 16 head, 85 to 90% lean, 800 to 1400 lbs., 51.00 to 55.00; low dressing, 47.50.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 and 2, 60 head, 1400 to 2425 lbs., 59.50 to 64.00; high dressing, 66.75 to 71.50; low dressing, 54.00 to 58.00.

Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1, 2 years old, 1225 lbs., 8 months bred, high quality blacks, 980.00; 1 and 2 years old, 900 to 975 lbs., 7 to 8 months bred, average, blacks, 750.00 to 810.00; 4 to 5 years old, 1125 lbs., 2 to 5 months bred, average, blacks, 850.00; 5 years old, 1150 lbs., 2 to 5 months bred, average quality, 760.00; 7 to 10 years old, 1025 to 1100 lbs., 7 to 8 months bred, average quality, 750.00 to 850.00.

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1, 2 to 4 years old, 1000 to 1300 lbs., with 100- to 150-lb. calves, high quality blacks, 1150.00 to 1210.00; 6 to 8 years old, 1000 to 1300 lbs., with 100- to 150-lb. calves, average quality, 830.00 to 870.00; 8 to 10 years old, 1070 lbs., with 80- to 100-lb. calves, average quality, 880.00.
