Woodward auction news

The Woodward Livestock Auction, Woodward, Okla., reported receipts of 5,964 head March 26, compared to 9,064 head last week, according to the USDA Market News Service, Oklahoma City, Okla.

Compared to last week, feeder steers were $1 to $2.50 higher. Feeder heifers weighing 600 to 700 pounds were $2 to $3 higher, while heavier weights were steady. Stocker and steer calves were steady to $2 higher. Stocker and heifer calves were steady to $2 higher. Demand was very good for all classes. Fill was average to full. Quality was average to plain. The supply was comprised 50% steers, 49% heifers with 89% weighing over 600 pounds. Slaughter cows were $1 higher and slaughter bulls were $2 lower. A total of 420 cows and bulls sold with 49% to packers.

Lean, 85 head, 85 to 90% lean, 900 to 1225 lbs., 47.50 to 48.75; high dressing, 50.00 to 54.00; low dressing, 43.25 to 46.50.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 and 2, 41 head, 1500 to 2530 lbs., 58.00 to 61.50; high dressing, 63.75 to 64.00; low dressing, 55.75 to 56.00.

Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1, 1 and 2 years old, 1025 to 1225 lbs., 7 months bred, average quality blacks, 800.00 to 830.00; 5 to 8 years old, 1050 to 1275 lbs., 6 to 8 months bred, average quality, 750.00 to 840.00.

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1, 2 years old, 975 to 1050 lbs., with 100- to 200-lb. calves, high quality blacks, 1100.00; 4 to 5 years old, 975 to 1025 lbs., with 100- to 150-lb. calves, average quality, 980.00 to 1060.00.
