Woodward Livestock Auction report

The Woodward Livestock Auction, Woodward, Okla., reported 4,103 head April 2, compared to 5,964 head last week, according to the USDA Market News Service, Oklahoma City, Okla.

Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers were steady. Steer calves were $1 to $3 higher. Stocker steers were steady to $1 lower. Heifer calves were $2 to $4 higher. Demand was very good for calves and feeders. Fill was average to full. Quality was average, few plain. The supply was comprised 57% steers, 40% heifers with 81% weighing over 600 pounds. Slaughter cows were steady. Slaughter bulls were $1 higher. A total of 422 cows and bulls sold with 33% going to packers.

Boners, 50 head, 80 to 85% lean, 1025 to 1550 lbs., 48.00 to 49.50; high dressing, 51.50 to 53.00; low dressing, 45.50 to 46.00. Lean, 28 head, 85 to 90% lean, 850 to 1475 lbs., 47.00 to 48.75; high dressing, 50.00 to 55.00; low dressing, 43.50.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 and 2, 55 head, 1450 to 2100 lbs., 59.50 to 62.50; high dressing, 63.00 to 66.00; low dressing, 54.00 to 57.50.

Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1, 2 year olds, 850 to 1000 lbs., 6 to 8 months bred, average quality, 860.00 to 900.00; 8 to 10 year olds, 1300 lbs., 6 to 7 months bred, average quality, 790.00.

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1, 2 to 5 year olds, 900 to 1100 lbs., with 100- to 250-lb. calves, average blacks, 990.00 to 1040.00; 3 to 5 year olds, 1100 lbs., with 200-to 250-lb. calves, average blacks, 1130.00; 7 to 8 year olds, 1025 lbs., with 150-lb. calves, average quality, 880.00; 8 to 10 year olds, 950 to 975 lbs., with 100- to 200-lb. calves, average quality, 790.00.
