Winter Livestock sales report

Receipts at Dodge City Winter Livestock Inc., Dodge City, Kan., April 7, totaled 4,092 head, compared to 3,919 head last week and 4,760 head last year, according to the Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Dodge City, Kan.

Compared with last week, feeder steers and heifers weighing 350 to 700 pounds in a very limited supply were firm. Steers and heifers weighing 700 to 950 pounds were firm to $2 higher. Slaughter cows and bulls were firm to $1 higher. Trade was active, demand was good. Receipts included 83% 600 pounds and over, 13% 600 pounds and under, 4% slaughter cows and bulls with 156 early. The feeder supply was 60% steers and 40% heifers.

Medium and large frame 2, 18 head, 411 lbs., 116.00; 13 head, 647 lbs., 98.75; 21 head, 677 lbs., 95.00; 9 head, 746 lbs., 93.50; 18 head, 823 lbs., 87.35; 18 head, 967 lbs., 82.00; 7 head, 1007 lbs., 75.75. Bred cows: Medium frame 2, mostly broken mouth, bred mostly third trimester, 1043 to 1258 lbs., 700.00 to 785.00. Cows with calves at side, Medium and large frame 1, solid mouth, 6 head, 1110 to 1260 lbs., with 250-lb. calves, 910.00 to 975.00. Medium frame 2, mostly broken mouth, 850 to 1150 lbs., with 150- to 250-lb. calves, 785.00 to 850.00.

Slaughter cows: Breakers and Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 53.50 to 59.00 (55.26). Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 48.00 to 53.00 (51.02); low dressing, 43.50 to 47.50 (46.08).

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 and 2, 62.00 to 68.00 (65.06); few high dressing, 71.00 to 71.50 (71.25); low dressing, 58.00 to 60.60 (59.12).
