West Plains livestock sales report
The Ozarks Regional Stockyard, West Plains, Mo., reported receipts of 3,250 head April 6, compared to 3,230 head last week and 3,000 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Jefferson City, Mo.
Compared to last week, steers and heifers were somewhat uneven, but for the most part sold steady to $2 higher, however, 5 to 6 weight yearling cattle, especially heifers, would be $2 to $4 higher. The supply was moderate. Demand was good. The supply included 51% steers and 49% heifers, with nearly 32% weighing over 600 pounds.
Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, small package thin, fancy 266 lbs., 157.50; few 300 to 350 lbs., 130.00 to 139.00, package thin, 334 lbs., 145.00; 350 to 400 lbs., 118.00 to 134.00, thin 129.00 to 135.00; 400 to 450 lbs., 116.50 to 131.00; few fleshy, 108.00 to 111.00; 450 to 500 lbs., 111.00 to 119.00; 500 to 550 lbs., 109.00 to 117.00, thin 117.50 to 119.00; 550 to 600 lbs., 103.00 to 111.50; 600 to 650 lbs., 96.50 to 106.00; 650 to 700 lbs., 92.00 to 99.00; string 75 head, 775 lbs., 89.75; 800 to 835 lbs., 86.00 to 90.50.
