West Plains cattle sale news
The Ozarks Regional Stockyards, West Plains, Mo., reported receipts of 2,600 head April 13, compared to 3,250 head last week and 3,615 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Jefferson City, Mo.
Compared to last week, steers under 500 pounds were $1 to $3 lower, over 500 pounds were mostly steady. Heifers under 450 pounds were steady to weak, with 450 to 600 pounds selling $1 to $3 higher, not enough weighing over 600 pounds for an adequate market test. Demand was good as many market indicators remain positive relative to the cattle business. The supply was light with 57% steers, 43% heifers and 25% of the receipts weighed over 600 pounds.
