Weld County 4-H livestock judging team working hard

The 2004 4-H livestock judging season has begun and the largest group of Weld County team members anyone can remember in recent history is working hard. March is the time for state junior field days, beginning with Swine Day, followed by Sheep Day and concluding with Beef Day.

At the Junior Swine Day judging contest, the Junior Teams placed 4th, with Kamber Carlson 7th individually. Placing in the junior test were Kamber Carlson 10th, Kyndal Reitzenstein 6th, Bailey Wise 5th, and Taylor Eurich 4th. The Senior Judging Teams placed 3rd and 2nd, with Reid Lohr 7th, Kathryn Kammerzell 4th, Kylee Willard 3rd and Corey Longhurst 1st individually. Placing in the senior test were Ashley Spaur 9th and Erin Marvin 3rd.

At the Junior Sheep Day judging contest, the Senior Team was 3rd, with Corey Longhurst 1st in wool and 3rd overall, Cortney Hodgson 9th overall, and Kylee Willard 1st overall.

At the Junior Beef Day, the Junior Teams placed 5th and 3rd, with Jenna Pralle 6th, Ross Lohr 5th, and Katelyn Willard 4th individually. In the Senior Contest Ben Fritz tied for 10th, Kylee Willard 9th and Dustin Frank 4th individually.

Team members are Lindsay Bowman, Gill; Amy Carlson, Roggen; Clay and Kamber Carlson, Stoneham; Lindsay and Taylor Eurich, Keenesburg; Derek and Dustin Frank, Johnstown; Ben and Brandon Fritz, Greeley; Cortney Hodgson, Greeley; Kathryn and Daniel Kammerzell, Milliken; Jaylinn, Reid, Ross and Casseday Lohr, Gill; Corey Longhurst, Brighton; Erin and Sarah Marvin, Fort Lupton; Jenna Pralle, Hudson; Kyndal Reitzenstein, Kersey; Tayla Reynolds, Platteville; Ashley and Rebecca Spaur, Johnstown, Sarah Tappy, Greeley, Justin Trupp, Roggen, Briana Vondy, Snyder; Katelyn and Kylee Willard, Hudson, and Bailey Wise, Keenesburg.

The team is coached by Todd Wise, Keenesburg, Steve Gabel, La Salle, and Casey and Clint Sidwell, Gill. The team will judge in the first contest of the season at Adams County in April.
