Watertown cattle sales
The South Dakota Livestock Sales, Watertown, S.D., reported receipts of 1,300 head April 21, compared to 1,700 head last week and 2,000 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Sioux Falls, S.D.
Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers were $1 to $2 lower. Good demand for feeder heifers. Offerings over 600 pounds made up 98%. Feeder steers made up 29% of the run, heifers made up 71% of the run.
Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 14 head, 551 to 579 lbs., 113.00; 9 head, 718 lbs., 102.50; 776 to 794 lbs., 99.00 to 100.75 (99.51); 11 head, 835 to 837 lbs., 88.00 to 90.25 (89.64); 18 head, 874 to 888 lbs., 86.75 to 87.25 (86.92); 6 head, 948 lbs., 85.75; 970 to 989 lbs., 86.00 to 87.50 (86.80); 11 head, 1021 lbs., 85.40 fleshy. Medium and large frame 1 and 2, 8 head, 702 lbs., 96.00; 23 head, 883 lbs., 82.00.
Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 6 head, 510 lbs., 106.00; 14 head, 602 to 617 lbs., 102.00 to 102.75 (102.49); 653 to 656 lbs., 101.00 to 102.00 (101.45); 718 to 743 lbs., 90.90 to 93.90 (92.74); 764 to 784 lbs., 89.50 to 91.30 (90.70); 51 head, 842 lbs., 87.00; 855 to 881 lbs., 82.75 to 85.00 (84.36); 910 to 932 lbs., 84.20 to 84.50 (84.27); 10 head, 939 lbs., 81.50 fleshy; 41 head, 1022 lbs., 80.25 fleshy; 12 head, 1109 lbs., 84.30.
Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1 and 2, 652 to 690 lbs., 94.30 to 96.00 (94.85). Medium and large frame 2, 6 head, 702 lbs., 73.50. Medium frame 1 and 2, 12 head, 688 lbs., 91.25.
