U.S. to allow Canadian bone-in beef(DTN)--The U.S. government has agreed to allow imports of bone-in beef from Canada, Secretary of Agriculture Ann Veneman said. The decision was reached by a technical panel on harmonization of meat rules between the United States and Canada, she said. The new rule would also allow imports of ground meat, but a USDA official said ground meat from animals under 24 months from Canada was already allowed. The official also said the decision was not related to any decisions about reopening the U.S. border to live cattle. Date: 4/21/04
