1/2 lb caramels
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup margarine
3/4 cup sugar
1/4 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup pecans
1 pie shell
Directions: Place caramels, water and margarine in a microwave safe bowl, heat on high until melted and smooth. Check frequently, stirring each time.
Combine slightly beaten eggs, sugar, salt and vanilla. Gradually add caramel sauce, mixing well. Add pecans, either chopping or leaving in halves.
Pour into prepared pie crust. Bake at 400°F for 10 minutes, then reduce oven to 350°F and bake an additional 20 minutes.
The filling will be soft at first but will thicken as it cools.
