3 cups flour
1 teaspoon salt
1-1/4 cups shortening, or 1 cup lard
1 egg, well beaten
5 tablespoons cold water
1 tablespoon white vinegar
Directions: Cut shortening into flour and salt until well blended. Combine egg, vinegar and water in small bowl. Pour liquid into flour mixture all at once. Mix until all flour is moistened and forms a ball. Handle lightly. Roll out, makes 2 to 3 single crusts for pie.
Notes: Makes a flakier crust if lard is used. Will keep in refrigerator for several days. I like to fill several pie plates and store in freezer until needed.
