Mom's Oatmeal Cake

Ingredients:
1 cup oatmeal, quick
1 stick margarine
1-1/4 cup boiling water
1-1/3 cup flour
1 teaspoon soda
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon nutmeg
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup white sugar
2 eggs
6 tablespoons melted butter
1/4 cup cream
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup coconut
1 cup nuts, chopped




Directions: Pour boiling water over the oatmeal, let stand while mixing other ingredients. Mix margarine, boiling water, flour,soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, brown sugar, white sugar and eggs, add oatmeal last. Bake at 350°F for 25 minutes in 9x13 inch pan. To prepare the frosting, boil butter, cream, sugar and vanilla and add 1 cup coconut and 1 cup chopped nutmeats. Spread over cake and put under broiler until brown.

Notes: Evaporated milk may be used instead of cream.
