Ingredients:
1 cup butter
2 cups sugar
6 eggs
4 cups cake flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 tablespoon nutmeg
1 tablespoons cinnamon
1 teaspoon cloves
1 1/2 cups buttermilk
2 cups blackberry jam

Directions: Cream butter and sugar and add eggs one at a time beating well after each addition. Sift flour, baking soda, and spices together, then add flour mixture alternately with the buttermilk. Add jam last. Bake in greased and floured 9 inch layer cake pans at 350°F for 35 minutes. Remove from pan, cool and frost with caramel frosting. Makes 4 layers.
Notes: This cake is very moist.
