Hamburger Stew

1 1/2 pounds ground beef
6 potatoes, peeled & cubed
4 carrots, peeled & sliced
1 to2 celery, (leaves and all) thinly sliced
1 (small) onion, chopped
1 (15 oz.) can diced tomatoes
water to cover
4 cubes beef bouillon
garlic powder to taste
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
salt to taste
pepper to taste
1 bay leaf
2 teaspoons granulated sugar
1 tablespoon lemon juice

Directions: Brown and drain ground beef. Put all ingredients in large saucepan and bring to a full boil. Boil, covered, until potatoes and carrots are tender; stir occasionally while cooking.

Notes: We love homemade bread with this.
