Ingredients:
1 (8 oz.) cup dates, cut up small
1-1/2 cups hot water
1-1/4 teaspoons baking soda
1/2 cup canola oil
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
1/3 cup cocoa
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 cup chocolate chips
1 cup nuts

Directions: Soak dates, in hot water and soda. In mixer bowl mix oil and sugar, add eggs and blend. Add cocoa, salt, flour and the liquid from the dates, blend in slowly. Mix for 1 to 2 minutes. When mixed add the dates slowly and blend. Before baking put about 1/2 cup chocolate chips and cup of nuts on top. Bake in 9x13 inch pan in 350°F oven 28 to 30 minutes
