Aunt Elna's Lemon Bread

Ingredients:
6 tablespoons shortening
2 beaten eggs
1 1/2 cups sifted flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup sugar
1 tablespoon grated lemon peel
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 cup milk
1/3 cup sugar
3 tablespoons lemon juice










Directions: Cream shortening and 1 cup sugar. Add beaten eggs and lemon peel. Sift flour, baking powder and salt. Add alternately with milk. Pour in greased and floured loaf pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour. Cool in pan 15 minutes. Dissolve 1/3 cup sugar in the lemon juice. Pour over bread,let set 10 minutes. Remove from pan.
