Ortega Taco Casserole

Ingredients:
1 lb. ground beef
1/2 cup onion, chopped
1 (8 oz.) bottle taco sauce any flavor
3/4 cup water
1(4 oz.) can green chiles, diced
1 (1.25 oz.) package taco seasoning mix
1 (12 count) package taco shells, broken, divided













Directions: Grease 11x17 inch baking dish. Cook beef and onion in large skillet until beef is browned, drain. Stir in taco sauce, water, chilies and seasoning mix, bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low, cook, stirring occasionally for 3 to4 minutes. Layer half of broken shells on bottom of prepared baking dish. Cover with half of meat mixture, sprinkle with 1 cup cheese. Repeat with remaining ingredients. Bake at 350°F for 20 to 25 minutes or until bubbley and cheese is melted. Top with tomato, green pepper and other desired garnishes. Makes 8 servings.
